It is a matter of great pride for all Keralites that their beloved son Dr.Shashi Tharoor has choosen to contest in 2009 General elections. But there has been a lot of heart-burning over Shashi Tharoor's candidature. Ofcourse a certain amount of allegations and counter-allegations are part and parcel of any democratic elections. But the mud-slinging campaign against him was certainly uncalled for.
I think all Indians,irrespective of their region , should support the likes of Mr.Tharoor.Here is a diplomat of world prominence, who left his secure career in the West , to serve his motherland. How many NRI's have shown such large-heartedness ? Any regular reader of Shashi Tharoor's erst-while The Hindu column's will not mistake his personnel honesty and integrity. If he had wished, Mr.Tharoor could have contested from prime centers such Delhi or Mumbai. But he choose his home-state Kerala. Now it is for all Keralites to vote their proud son to the parlament and set an example to the rest of the nation.
