XYZ

The drama performance 'XYZ' was excellent. Apart from the fine performances bythe actors, the drama brilliantly showcased the French/Europeon tradition of theatre which is entirely, different from this part of the world. The show also introduced the non-living 'actors' in the form of a doll, broom, lantern, water-pump,utensils etc.
Initially, for an untrained eye, the 'stage' looked hardly impressive.Infact it reminded of a drama performances conducted in nursery schools. But later one realises that it is indeed a miniature-version of the old Greek/Roman theatre. As the viewer get engrossed in the play , it was like watching a movie. The audio and lighting-effects was also very effective. The multi-talended Emmanuel Courtin and Elena Koutoulidis made the one-hour most absorbing. In the end , the audience felt the show ended quickly, and could have lasted longer.Kudos also to the director Jean-Marie Carrel.
The Italian classic movie 'The Bicycle Thieves' had demonstrated that with is a simple ,running camera one can make good movies. Similarly, the drama 'XYZ' demostrates to the art-lovers of Cochin that one do not need an auditorium or A/C hall or lavish back-grounds to conduct a play. Nor there is need for outpouring 'fans' and supporters. If the idea/concept is brilliant, all you need is your OWN environs and your friends and well-wishers as audience. The rest will follow naturally, which I am sure be in the case of Villveli Art Factory.
